EuroTech Governing Board Member among Juncker’s Scientific Advisors

Henrik C. Wegener, Executive Vice President of Technical University of Denmark and Member of the EuroTech Universities Alliance Governing Board, was appointed today to serve as one of seven leading scientists in the European Commission’s new Scientific Advice Mechanism (SAM). Carlos Moedas, Commissioner for Research, Science and Innovation, said: “The seven exceptional scientists I have appointed to the group will take the use of independent science advice in Commission policy making to a new level.” “It is a very interesting and challenging task” comments Wegener, who has an extensive track record as advisor to national and international government bodies and organizations, universities and companies, especially in the field of food safety and veterinary public health, but also as regards general research policy.
