What started as a bilateral partnership already back in 2006 has grown into a strong alliance of six leading universities of science and technology. In 2011, the EuroTech Universities Alliance was formally established. Since then, we have been developing solutions to the grand challenges of society together and will continue to do so.
Throughout the year, we will look back on the achievements of the past decade. But above and before all, we will prepare for the one to come. We hope you join us to celebrate the anniversary!
From the origins to today
TUM and DTU team up
Technical University of Munich and Technical University of Denmark engage in a strategic collaborative arrangement, which sees the strengthening of bottom-up joint activities between the two universities. The EuroTech “founding fathers” are highly esteemed polytechnic institutions with a world-wide reputation.
TU/e joins the two universities
The bilateral partnership of DTU and TUM becomes a very successful trilateral “European Alliance”: Eindhoven University of Technology, a young university founded in 1956 by industry, local government and academia, brings a valued additional angle to the cooperation.
EuroTech Universities Alliance is born
World-class university École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne joins the Alliance.
The Presidents of the four partner universities sign the contract on the “Establishment of a Strategic Alliance between universities of excellence”
In the heart of Europe
The four universities establish a permanent office in Brussels (read press release). Now, nine years later, staff in Brussels has grown to seven committed colleagues who assume a hub function for the Alliance and open the doors to the European policymaking arena.
École Polytechnique, a prestigious French “grande école” with military status, accesses the Alliance, bringing the number of members to five (read press release). “L’X” (check their logo to see where the name comes from) is the oldest (founded in 1794) and smallest school of the Alliance.
Technion comes aboard
Technion Israel Institute of Technology joins the EuroTech Universities, making the Alliance even more international (read press release). The Israeli colleagues broaden our view beyond Europe and bring their valuable expertise to the cooperation.
