On 5-6 March 2015 the EuroTech Universities Alliance brings together participants of all four partner universities to build upon and combine the existing research excellence of the EuroTech Alliance in the field of high performance computing , also with a view to likely opportunities in HORIZON 2020.
The workshop will bring together key research players from the four universities, who will present a general overview of their research interest and some of the current research activities across this domain in their respective institution. The workshop will highlight the importance of a close interplay between mathematicians, computational scientists and application experts to enable, through the use of HPC, the modeling of complex multi-scale problems with relevance to the solution of grand challenges in science and engineering.
A few selected officials from the European Commission as well as other EU stakeholders will also be invited for an informal discussion with the participating researchers concerning future research priorities in the field of HPC. The expected outcome of the workshop is to identify common research interests, to explore possible cooperation on joint research proposals and potentially longer term strategic research collaboration.
