Forum of Universities for the Future of Europe

On 25 and 26 January 2022, the French Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation is organising an online conference around the future of higher education and, more particular, the role of European university alliances. The event is part of the current French Presidency of the Council of the EU (January – June 2022), which identified higher education as one of its priorities.

The European Universities Initiative, which has its roots in a speech of French President Emmanuel Macron in 2017, is embodied in 41 3-year pilot projects involving more than 280 institutions from all over Europe and more than 1,000 associated partners (research centres, enterprises etc.). The EuroTeQ Engineering University, stemming from the EuroTech Universities Alliance, is one of them. These alliances test different models for the innovative, inclusive and world-class “university of the future” in Europe. They constitute large-scale experiments, allowing their members to evolve through contact with each other, but also to play the role of pioneers for the benefit of all European higher education stakeholders.

The Forum brings together representatives of European higher education stakeholders, Member States, the Commission and European universities alliances and offers them a space for debate and reflection on the role of universities in the Europe of tomorrow, with a view to contributing to the European strategy for universities and its next steps.
