The EuroTech Universities Alliance launches its Strategy 2030

Opening a new chapter for Europe’s leading technical universities – united for impact

20 March 2026 | Brussels – The EuroTech Universities Alliance unveiled today its Strategy 2030, setting out its long-term vision and priorities. The strategy outlines how Europe’s top science and technology universities will further deepen their collaboration and expand research and innovation capacity across the continent.

The Strategy focuses on three interconnected strategic objectives, bringing impact through concrete united dimensions:

  • Synergy – deepening trust-based ties in research, innovation, infrastructure and education. Through flagship initiatives, shared research platforms, and cross-institutional R&I communities, the Alliance will turn complementary strengths into collective achievements.
  • Policy – turning cutting-edge science into actionable guidance for decision-makers. Through evidence-based contributions on deep-tech topics and direct engagement, the Alliance will help shape stronger European frameworks for research and innovation.
  • Ecosystem – building connections across innovation landscapes to scale Europe-wide impact. The Alliance will strengthen partnerships with ecosystem players, including industry, academia, and society.

The launch comes as EuroTech marks its 15th anniversary this year – an important milestone that has invited both reflection and renewed direction. What began as a collaborative arrangement between the Technical University of Munich (TUM) and the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) two decades ago has gradually evolved into a formal platform of six outstanding institutions, additionally including Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), Institut Polytechnique de Paris (IP Paris), and Technion – Israel Institute of Technology. Together, they form a unique and vibrant community grounded in the core values of excellence, societal impact, sustainability, academic freedom, diversity and inclusion, integrity, and last but not least: entrepreneurial spirit.

Since its founding, the Alliance within research, innovation, and education, and is now placing an additional emphasis on research and technology infrastructures. This progress, nevertheless, has taken place amid rapid technological, geopolitical, climate and socio-economic changes in Europe and beyond. As leading technical universities, the Alliance’s members share a common goal to remain at the forefront of technology developments, ensuring their efforts contribute to Europe’s resilience, competitiveness, sustainability, and autonomy.

The new roadmap has been built through close engagement among experts from all member universities, working hand-in-hand with the Alliance team in Brussels. It was formally endorsed today at the EuroTech Presidents’ meeting, hosted at IP Paris, where university leaders also discussed ambitious initiatives for its implementation, and the reinforcement of synergies with EuroTeQ, our sister Alliance, to bring Research & Education closer together.
