EPFL and the Cyber-Defence Campus have opened the 14th call for applications for the CYD Fellowships, supporting the next generation of researchers and innovators in cyber-defence.
Launched in 2020, the programme promotes research and education in cybersecurity, privacy and data science. Fellows conduct their research in Switzerland in collaboration with the CYD Campus and its network at EPFL, ETH Zurich and Thun.
Fellowship opportunities
The programme offers four funding tracks:
- Master Thesis Fellowships: six months of support, including a living allowance and research funding.
- Doctoral Fellowships: up to four years of funding, with the possibility of a one-year extension.
- Distinguished Postdoctoral Fellowships: up to two years of funding.
- Proof of Concept Fellowships: 12 months of support to develop promising cyber-defence research towards practical applications.
Eligibility
Applicants of all nationalities are welcome. Candidates should have an excellent academic record and meet the eligibility requirements for their chosen fellowship track.
Key dates
- Doctoral and Distinguished Postdoctoral Fellowships: applications close on 19 August 2026 at 17:00 CEST.
- Master Thesis and Proof of Concept Fellowships: applications are accepted on a rolling basis.
- Online applicant workshop: 7 July 2026, 11:00-11:45 CEST. Registration is required.
