General Description (high standard, uniqueness)
The TCSB specializes in determining protein structure via X-ray crystallography, in order to zoom in on biology at the atomic level. The TCSB provides full service, from protein purification, crystal growth, crystal manipulation and handling, through data collection (including at synchrotrons), structure determination, refinement and structure analysis. Our bioinformatics unit provides computational services, using up-to-date software tools. We develop new state of-the-art strategies for structure-based function prediction, macromolecular structure prediction and small molecule docking. The TCSB houses a Biophysical unit with various techniques for measuring protein stability and protein binding Affinity.
