The newly established EuroTech Working Group on Chemistry and Chemical Engineering is launching a biweekly online seminar series: Every other Wednesday, the group is offering a one-hour talk open to all. Join us on 26 May for the fourth talk:

Molecular Architectures Losing Their Innocence
Abstract
Reticular structures assembled from predesigned inorganic and organic molecular modules constitute a new class of materials with highly multifaceted physical and chemical properties and virtually unlimited possibilities for synthetic modification and tuning. We are interested in realizing materials with strong electronic correlations and communication between the constituent building blocks, which may be achieved in situations with significant orbital conjugation (“non-innocence”). In this talk, I will discuss our approaches to synthetically tailor non-innocence in molecules and materials, and explain how these simple chemical principles translate into both novel chemical reactivity and charge transport and magnetism, relevant for emerging technologies utilizing molecular and low-dimensional materials.
