First cohort of Technion Campus Leaders at TUM

6 June 2023 | As part of the launch of the new Technion Campus Leaders (TCL) program, Prof. Dr. Juliane Winkelmann, Senior Vice President for International Alliances and Alumni at Technical University of Munich, welcomed the participants of the first cohort in Munich. In addition to numerous internal activities, the TCL program includes visits to renowned universities around the world. The very first TCL cohort chose TUM for this purpose.

Together with the Israeli Consul General for Southern Germany, Carmela Shamir, TUM Senior Vice President Prof. Dr. Juliane Winkelmann received the Technion delegation at the TUM main campus on 30 May 2023. Both emphasized the great importance of Bavarian-Israeli relations and the special role of cooperation between the universities. TUM and the Technion are closely connected across disciplines through many scientific collaborations – and since 2019 additionally through the EuroTech Universities Alliance.

The TCL participants were given insights into the TUM Agenda 2030 and the process of structural reform from Departments to Schools which goes hand in hand with it. Furthermore, the participants learned about TUM Leadership and Talent Development as well as the TUM Gender Equality Plan.

Afterwards, Prof. Hans-Joachim Bungartz, TUM Graduate Dean and Dean of the TUM School of Computation, Information and Technology, welcomed the delegation at the TUM Campus Garching. Here, representatives of the Garching TUM units presented best practices in interdisciplinary research, entrepreneurship and successful industry cooperation to the TCL participants.

After the visit, the partners agreed that exchanges between the Technion Campus Leaders with the TUM colleagues represented had immensely enriched the partnership between Technion and TUM and inspired new collaborations.
